This resolution honors Sergeant First Class Bill Brown, a decorated Vietnam War veteran from Beckley, West Virginia, for his distinguished military service. Enlisting in the United States Army in 1956, Brown served both domestically and internationally, including significant assignments in Germany, Okinawa, Thailand, and Southeast Asia. He completed three tours in Vietnam, where he held command positions that showcased his exceptional leadership and courage under combat conditions. Tragically, during his third tour in Cambodia, he sustained severe injuries from a mortar explosion, resulting in a bilateral leg amputation just days before his return home.

In recognition of his extraordinary heroism and service, Sergeant First Class Brown received 16 medals, including the Silver Star and the Bronze Star with multiple Oak Leaf Clusters, as well as two Purple Hearts. He was also honored with a prestigious award from the government of South Vietnam, given to only 12 Americans for exceptional valor. Following his honorable discharge, Brown has continued to embody courage and patriotism for the citizens of Beckley and the state of West Virginia. The resolution expresses the Senate's gratitude for his dedication to the defense of the United States and directs that a copy be forwarded to him.
