This bill aims to amend the Code of West Virginia, specifically section 30-29-2, which pertains to the Law-Enforcement Professional Standards Subcommittee. The primary change introduced by this bill is the addition of a representative from the Office of the State Fire Marshal to the subcommittee, which is responsible for overseeing the qualification, training, and certification of law enforcement officers in the state. The subcommittee will now consist of eleven members, including the new representative from the Fire Marshal's office, as well as representatives from various law enforcement and public safety organizations.

Additionally, the bill removes the requirement for a representative from the West Virginia Troopers Association, thereby restructuring the composition of the subcommittee. The subcommittee will continue to elect a chairperson and vice chairperson, hold special meetings as needed, and maintain a quorum based on the presence of a majority of its members. The inclusion of the Fire Marshal's office is intended to enhance the subcommittee's effectiveness in law enforcement training and certification by incorporating broader perspectives on public safety.
