This bill proposes the addition of a new section, 18-33-9, to the Code of West Virginia, mandating that public elementary and secondary schools display a durable poster or framed copy of the Ten Commandments in each classroom. The bill outlines specific requirements for the posters, including size, legibility, and content, ensuring that they are at least 16 inches wide and 20 inches tall, and that the text is easily readable from anywhere in the classroom. Schools that do not currently have such displays are required to accept privately donated posters that meet these criteria and to display them accordingly.

Furthermore, the bill stipulates that if existing posters do not meet the specified requirements, schools may replace them using public funds or private donations. Schools are also required to offer any surplus posters to other public schools. The implementation of this requirement is set to begin with the 2025-2026 school year.
