This bill amends the Code of West Virginia to exempt honorably discharged veterans from the payment of registration fees for special military license plates, with the exception of a $10 initial application fee. The current law requires additional fees for registration and renewal, which will be removed for the first special plate issued to these veterans. The bill aims to honor the service of veterans by reducing their financial burden related to vehicle registration.

Additionally, the bill maintains provisions for the issuance of special registration plates for active, retired, or honorably discharged military personnel, as well as for the next of kin of service members killed in combat. It allows surviving spouses to continue using their deceased spouse's military license plate under certain conditions and requires applicants to provide documentation to prove their eligibility for the special plates.
