The bill amends the Code of West Virginia by establishing a new full-time position titled "Dementia Services Director" within the Department of Health. This position is tasked with coordinating the implementation of the State Alzheimer's Disease and Other Dementia Plan, evaluating the coordination of dementia services, and assessing state government services to enhance efficiency and care quality for individuals living with dementia and their caregivers. The Director will also identify duplicated services, seek grant opportunities, support staff training, recommend strategies for improved access to services, and promote public awareness about dementia.

Additionally, the Dementia Services Director will be responsible for collecting and monitoring dementia-related data to improve service delivery and public outcomes. An annual report detailing the implementation status of the state plan, funding from grant applications, and office deliverables will be made available on the Department's website. This legislation is set to take effect 90 days after its passage, which is on July 10, 2025.
