This bill amends West Virginia Code §30-7-15 to update the requirements for certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) to administer anesthetics in collaboration with physicians or dentists. The previous language, which allowed any licensed registered nurse to administer anesthetics under the supervision of a physician or dentist, is deleted. The new provisions specify that CRNAs must be licensed as advanced practice registered nurses, have completed an accredited nurse anesthesia educational program, and be board certified by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists.

Additionally, the bill defines "cooperation" as a collaborative process where CRNAs and physicians or dentists work together, utilizing their respective expertise. It also clarifies that dentists cooperating with CRNAs must adhere to specific regulations outlined in §30-4A-1 et seq. The overall aim of the bill is to ensure that CRNAs meet higher educational and certification standards while working in conjunction with medical professionals.
