The bill amends the Code of West Virginia by adding new articles that require public elementary and secondary schools, as well as state institutions of higher education, to display the United States national motto, "In God We Trust," in a conspicuous location within a common area of their main buildings. The display must be a durable poster or framed copy that is at least 8.5 by 11 inches in size, featuring a representation of the United States flag centered beneath the motto, and it cannot include any other words, images, or information.

Additionally, the bill stipulates that schools and institutions may accept private donations to cover the costs of these displays, explicitly prohibiting the use of public funds for this purpose. The requirements also extend to public charter schools, ensuring that the motto is displayed in these educational settings as well. The law will take effect 90 days after its passage.
