SENATE RESOLUTION 36(By Senators Tarr, Rucker, Chapman, Caputo, and Plymale)[Introduced February 13, 2024] Designating February 14, 2024, as Child Care Day at the Legislature.Whereas, The State of West Virginia and the West Virginia Association for Young Children recognizes the importance of child care programs in our state; and Whereas, The mission of the West Virginia Association for Young Children is to develop resources to sustain a comprehensive high-quality early childhood system that provides access to a variety of programs for all children and families, and is supported by a growing number of professionals dedicated to preparing children to become lifelong learners; and Whereas, These child care professionals have dedicated their lives to making life better for West Virginia's children. They care for and educate our youngest population, and help support families and our workforce; and Whereas, Child care professionals are regulated by the State of West Virginia through legislation and by oversight of the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources; and Whereas, West Virginia's child care providers commit themselves to excellence in their profession through licensing, advocacy, education, and professional development; and Whereas, The West Virginia Senate recognizes and appreciates the outstanding dedication, devotion, and care of West Virginia child care programs and for their commitment to making a difference in the lives of children in the State of West Virginia, their families, and communities; therefore, be itResolved by the Senate:That the Senate hereby designates February 14, 2024, as Child Care Day at the Legislature; and, be itFurther Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the West Virginia Association for Young Children.
