HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 36(By Delegates Crouse, W. Hall, Howell, Moore, Petitto, Ward, Campbell, Smith, Young, Foster, and Cannon)[Introduced on January 17, 2024; Referred to the Committee Technology and Infrastructure then Rules.] Requesting the Division of Highways name Bridge Number 11642, beginning at 38*27'10N 81*51'38W and ending at 38*27'12"N 81*51'39W, on Bills Creek Road near Scott Depot in Putnam County, the "USAF CMSgt Dan Chandler Bridge".Whereas, Robert Daniel Chandler, originally from St. Albans, WV, lived a life of distinction worthy of being remembered; andWhereas, Mr. Chandler, enlisted in the Air Force on March 9th, 1966, and became a Combat Loadmaster on C-130 airplanes; and Whereas, While assigned to the 774th Tactical Airlift Squadron in the Philippines, he flew missions in Vietnam, going on to serve in the Persian Gulf War and the War of Bosnia as well; andWhereas, Mr. Chandler was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1970 and joined the West Virginia Air National Guard, where he served as a Loadmaster on C-119 airplanes; andWhereas, He was selected as the Outstanding Airman of the Year for West Virginia in 1986 and again in 1991 and became a Command Chief Sergeant in 1996; andWhereas, From 2001-2005, Mr. Chandler was the State Commander Chief Master Sergeant and served as the Commander for the American Legion Post 187 from 2006-2008; therefore, be it Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:That the Division of Highways is hereby requested to name Bridge Number 11642, beginning at 38*27'10N 81*51'38W and ending at 38*27'12"N 81*51'39W, on Bills Creek Road near Scott Depot in Putnam County, the " USAF CMSgt Dan Chandler Bridge"; and, be itFurther Resolved, That the Division of Highways is hereby requested to erect signs containing bold and prominent letters identifying the bridge as the "USAF CMSgt Dan Chandler Bridge"; and, be itFurther Resolved, That the Clerk of the House forward a certified copy of this resolution to the Commissioner of the Division of Highways and the Putnam County Commission.
