HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 24(By Delegates Hornby, Thorne, E. Pritt, Ferrell, Willis, Dittman, Heckert, Toney, Jennings, Chiarelli, and Smith)[Introduced January 15, 2024; referred to the Committee on Education then Rules.] Requesting a study of the school aid formula and how school aid funds are currently distributed.Whereas, It is believed that the school aid formula for schools in West Virginia might be used for distribution of school aid funds more judiciously and equitably and therefore should be studied to determine if there is a better or different method for that distribution; therefore, be itResolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:That the Joint Committee on Government and Finance is hereby requested to conduct a study of the school aid formula and the manner of distribution of school aid funds to the public schools in West Virginia; and, be itFurther Resolved, That the Joint Committee on Government and Finance report to the Legislature, on the first day of the regular session, 2025, on its findings, conclusions, and recommendations together with drafts of any legislation to effectuate its recommendations; and, be itFurther Resolved, That the expenses necessary to conduct this study, to prepare a report and to draft necessary legislation be paid from legislative appropriations to the Joint Committee on Government and Finance.
