SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 14(By Senators Martin, Chapman, Karnes, and Stuart)[Introduced on January 12, 2024] Requesting the Division of Highways name bridge 17-079/00-115.33 (NB-SB) (17A251,17A252), also known as the Quiet Dell Overpass and beginning at 39.22594, -80.29692, located in Clarksburg, Harrison County, the "U.S. Army PFC William Gorman Memorial Bridge".Whereas, William Gorman, originally from Fairmont, WV, lived a life of distinction worthy of being remembered; andWhereas, Mr. Gorman enlisted in the United States Army to serve in World War II; and Whereas, While serving in the Army, Mr. Gorman was awarded two Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star, and the World War II Victory Medal; andWhereas, Mr. Gorman was amongst heroes as he served his country fighting in World War II; therefore, be it Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:That the Division of Highways is hereby requested to name bridge 17-079/00-115.33 (NB-SB) (17A251,17A252), also known as the Quiet Dell Overpass and beginning at 39.22594, -80.29692, located in Clarksburg, Harrison County, the "U.S. Army PFC William Gorman Memorial Bridge"; and, be itFurther Resolved, That the Division of Highways is hereby requested to have made and be placed, signs identifying the bridge as the " U.S. Army PFC William Gorman Memorial Bridge"; and, be itFurther Resolved, That the Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the Commissioner of the Division of Highways.
