HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 8(By Delegate Hillenbrand and Thorne))[Introduced January 10, 2024; Referredto the Committee on Technology and Infrastructure then Rules]Requesting the Division of Highways name a bridge bearing the Bridge Number: 14-050/00-007.31 (14A120), (39.33950, -78.77510) locally known as ROMNEY BRIDGE, carrying US 50 over SOUTH BR POTOMAC RIVER in Hampshire County, the "Judy Brothers Veterans Memorial Bridge".Whereas, The six Judy brothers were born in Hampshire County, West Virginia and each served in combat in the U. S. armed forces, namely: Glice Judy, World II U. S. Navy Pacific Theater (deceased 1998), Kermit Judy, Korean War U. S Army Korea (deceased 1993), Calvin Judy Sr,. Korean War U. S. Army (deceased 2021), Donald Judy, Sr., U. S. Army Korean War and Vietnam (deceased 2017), Melvin Judy, U. S. Army Korean War and Vietnam (deceased 2018), and Jerry Judy Sr,. U. S. Army Vietnam (deceased 2019); andWhereas, The Judy brothers served their country in combat from WW II to Korea and Vietnam with the Spirit of Montani Semper Liberi to bring freedom to those being depressed. Their combined military service to their state and country spans sixty years; andWhereas, For these reasons it is fitting and proper that the bridge be named in honor of these six brothers who loyally served their state and country; therefore, be itResolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:That the Division of Highways name a bridge bearing the Bridge Number: 14-050/00-007.31 () (14A120), (39.33950, -78.77510) locally known as ROMNEY BRIDGE, carrying US 50 over SOUTH BR POTOMAC RIVER in Hampshire County. the "Judy Brothers Veterans Memorial Bridge" and, be itFurther Resolved, That the Commissioner of the Division of Highways is requested to erect signs at both ends of the bridge containing bold and prominent letters proclaiming the bridge as the "Judy Brothers Veterans Memorial Bridge"; and, be itFurther Resolved, That the Clerk of the House forward a copy of this resolution to the Commissioner of the Division of Highways.
