SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 2(By Senators Takubo, Nelson, Jeffries, and Karnes)[Introduced January 10, 2024]Requesting the Division of Highways name bridge number 20-072/01-000.01 (20A208), (38.19189, -81.50044), locally known as Slaughter Creek Bridge, carrying CR 72/01 over Slaughter Creek in Kanawha County, the “U.S. Army PFC John Henry Trail Memorial Bridge".Whereas, John Henry Trail was born on July 25, 1925, in Chelyan, Kanawha County, West Virginia; andWhereas, John Henry Trail enlisted in the United States Army, where he achieved an E3 ranking; andWhereas, Sadly, PFC John Henry Trail gave his life in service of his country on November 10, 1944, in France during World War II; andWhereas, PFC John Henry Trail was the only male sibling of his family; andWhereas, PFC John Henry Trail is buried adjacent to the bridge to be named in his memory; andWhereas, For these reasons it is fitting and proper that the bridge be named in memory of PFC John Henry Trail; therefore, be itResolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:That the Division of Highways is hereby requested to name bridge number 20-072/01-000.01 (20A208), (38.19189, -81.50044) locally known as Slaughter Creek Bridge, carrying CR 72/01 over Slaughter Creek in Kanawha County, the "U.S. Army PFC John Henry Trail Memorial Bridge"; and, be itFurther Resolved, That the Division of Highways is requested to have made and be placed signs identifying the bridge as the "PFC John Henry Trail Memorial Bridge"; and, be itFurther Resolved, That the Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the Commissioner of the Division of Highways.
