Assembly Bill 689 mandates that state or municipal weights and measures inspectors or sealers must place a sticker on gas pumps that displays the federal and state gas tax rates per gallon. The Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) is tasked with creating and distributing these stickers, which must be updated and redistributed whenever there is a change in the gas tax rates. The stickers are required to be at least 3.5 inches on each side and must be displayed prominently on the gas pumps to ensure visibility for consumers.

Additionally, the bill specifies that owners or operators of gas pumps will not be held liable for the affixing or maintenance of the stickers. The legislation is set to take effect on July 1, 2026.
