This bill mandates that, starting July 1, 2027, all hospitals in Washington must offer influenza immunizations to inpatients who are 65 years of age or older, as well as to those of any age with one or more chronic health conditions. The immunization offers will be available annually from October 1st to March 1st of the following year, unless the vaccine is contraindicated for the patient.
Additionally, the bill stipulates that the availability of the influenza vaccine at the time of service and adherence to recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's advisory committee on immunization practices will govern the immunization offers. The Department of Health is also authorized to adopt rules to facilitate the implementation of this new requirement.
