The bill aims to enhance the availability of sexual assault nurse examiners in Washington by establishing a stipend program for registered nurses who undergo the necessary training to become certified as adult/adolescent or pediatric sexual assault nurse examiners. This program will be funded subject to the availability of appropriated amounts and will provide financial assistance to cover out-of-pocket expenses incurred during the training process.

Specifically, the stipend for each nurse will be capped at $2,500 and will cover various expenses, including training fees, educational materials, reasonable travel costs, and other related expenses as determined by the department. Additionally, the department is granted the authority to adopt rules necessary for the implementation of this new section in chapter 43.70 RCW.
