This bill mandates the inclusion of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander history in public school curricula in Washington State. By September 2027, the office of the superintendent of public instruction is required to adopt specific learning standards for this history as part of the state social studies curriculum. The standards will cover various topics, including the historical contributions of these communities to civil rights, government, arts, sciences, and the overall development of the United States.

Starting in the 2028-29 school year, school districts must provide K-12 instruction on these topics when they align with social studies learning standards. Districts are encouraged to utilize curricular resources identified by the superintendent's office and may accept donations to support this instruction. Additionally, from 2029 onward, districts must annually confirm to the state board of education that they are systematically offering the required instruction.
