HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 2024-4663, by Representative McClintock
1 WHEREAS, Colleen O'Neal, a dedicated and retired educator with
2 over thirty years of experience as a teacher, principal, and
3 education advocate, has made significant contributions to the field
4 of education; and
5 WHEREAS, Upon her retirement in 2015, Colleen O'Neal assumed the
6 role of President of the Battle Ground Education Foundation,
7 demonstrating her commitment to rebuilding the foundation to better
8 serve the students at Battle Ground Public Schools; and
9 WHEREAS, During her tenure at Battle Ground Public Schools, she
10 served for 28 years as both a teacher and principal, leaving a
11 lasting impact on the community and its educational system; and
12 WHEREAS, Under her leadership, significant strides were made
13 toward eliminating student lunch debt, and ensuring all students have
14 equal access to meals; and
15 WHEREAS, Colleen O'Neal has been instrumental in efforts to
16 routinely pay off thousands of dollars in student lunch debt each
17 year, focusing primarily on students with reduced lunch plans, and
18 aiding children in need; and
19 WHEREAS, Colleen O'Neal's efforts in the Battle Ground Public
20 School district helped support the community, with the purchase of
21 two Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), ensuring that each
22 school is equipped with these life-saving devices; and

 1 WHEREAS, The provision of AEDs, which are crucial for responding
2 to medical emergencies, highlights Colleen O'Neal's foresight in
3 recognizing and addressing the health and safety needs of the school
4 community; and
5 WHEREAS, The impactful contributions of Colleen extend beyond
6 health and safety measures to include support for literacy programs,
7 the Family and Community Resource Center, and unified sports, all
8 testament to Colleen O'Neal's comprehensive approach to supporting
9 education;
10 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives
11 recognize and honor Colleen O'Neal for her exemplary service, her
12 deep commitment to the Battle Ground Public Schools, and her
13 significant contributions to the community of Washington State; and
14 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be
15 immediately transmitted by the Chief Clerk of the House of
16 Representatives to Colleen O'Neal.
