HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 2024-4662, by Representatives Chambers, Robertson,
Bronoske, Mena, Jacobsen, Barkis, Hutchins, and Stokesbary
1 WHEREAS, For 91 years the annual Daffodil Festival has been a
2 cherished tradition for the people of Pierce county; and
3 WHEREAS, The Daffodil Festival has been an anticipated event that
4 continues to bring communities together to celebrate unity within our
5 diverse community; and
6 WHEREAS, Since its inception in the 1920s as a modest garden
7 party, it has grown into the festival that we all know and love today
8 and this year celebrates its 91st anniversary; and
9 WHEREAS, Each year, 24 young women pass through a rigorous
10 selection process to represent their schools as well as Pierce county
11 communities through ambassadorship, community service, and civic
12 pride; and
13 WHEREAS, Members of the Daffodil Festival royal court serve as role
14 models for youth around our region. Their volunteerism, civic
15 responsibility, and willingness to be ambassadors for Pierce county
16 serve as a light for youth to look up to; and
17 WHEREAS, This year's Daffodil Festival royal court includes: Addie
18 Fowler, Bonney Lake High School; Addison Muse, Stadium High School;
19 Addison Ogden, Emerald Ridge High School; Alejandra Gonzalez,
20 Puyallup High School; Amanda Peterson, Lincoln High School; Chai
21 Hill, Clover Park High School; Faletele Moliga, Mount Tacoma High
22 School; Hannah Zaragoza, Eatonville High School; Kaylie Dickerson,
23 Graham-Kapowsin High School; Kemoni Brouillard, Washington High

10 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Washington State House
11 of Representatives recognize and honor the many contributions made to
12 our state by the Daffodil Festival, its organizers, and its royal
13 court for the past 91 years; and
14 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be
15 immediately transmitted by the Chief Clerk of the House of
16 Representatives to the 2024 Daffodil Festival officers and to the 24
17 members of the 2024 Daffodil Festival royalty.
