1 AN ACT Relating to the Washington state law enforcement memorial;
2 and adding a new section to chapter 79.24 RCW.
3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:
4 NEW SECTION. Sec. 1. A new section is added to chapter 79.24
5 RCW to read as follows:
6 (1) The Washington state law enforcement memorial names committee
7 is hereby established.
8 (2) The committee shall determine which names of fallen law
9 enforcement officers shall appear on the Washington state law
10 enforcement memorial on the capitol campus in Olympia. The committee
11 shall meet as needed to review the placement of names on the
12 memorial.
13 (3) Names that have been approved for placement on the memorial
14 shall be forwarded to the department of enterprise services for
15 inclusion on the memorial.
16 (4)(a) Each of the following entities may appoint one member of
17 the committee:
18 (i) Washington state fraternal order of police;
19 (ii) Washington chapter of the concerns of police survivors;
20 (iii) Washington chapter of the national organization of black
21 law enforcement executives;

1 (iv) Washington state patrol troopers association;
2 (v) Washington state behind the badge foundation;
3 (vi) Washington council of police and sheriffs; and
4 (vii) Northwest association of tribal officers.
5 (b) The Washington association of sheriffs and police chiefs may
6 appoint one sheriff and one police chief.
