HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 2024-4654, by Representatives Ortiz-Self and Goodman
1 WHEREAS, The National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) was
2 founded in 1975 and has evolved during the past half-century to
3 become the premier organization solely dedicated to serving state and
4 territorial legislators and legislative staff; and
5 WHEREAS, It was created from the merger of three organizations
6 that served or represented state legislatures and that shared the
7 belief that legislative service is one of democracy's worthiest
8 pursuits; and
9 WHEREAS, NCSL is a bipartisan organization with three objectives:
10 To advance the effectiveness, independence, and integrity of state
11 legislatures; to foster interstate communication and cooperation; and
12 to ensure states a strong, cohesive voice in the federal system; and
13 WHEREAS, Our nation's state legislatures are America's
14 laboratories of democracy and have continually shown that they are
15 the bodies to tackle emerging challenges, and state legislatures are
16 where people from very different backgrounds, representing very
17 different communities, can come together and find common ground; and
18 WHEREAS, NCSL has facilitated the exchange of ideas, provided
19 critical research and information, and encouraged a rigorous review
20 of complex issues confronting our communities, states, and nation;
21 and
22 WHEREAS, NCSL strives to strengthen the bonds between America's
23 state legislatures and the international community;

 1 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, By the House of Representatives
2 of the state of Washington, That the members of this legislative body
3 recognize and commend the National Conference of State Legislatures
4 for their superb leadership and their commitment to the legislative
5 institution; and
6 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be
7 immediately transmitted by the Chief Clerk of the House of
8 Representatives to the National Conference of State Legislatures.
