SENATE RESOLUTION

1 WHEREAS, It is the practice of the Washington State Senate to
2 recognize excellence in every field and endeavor; and
3 WHEREAS, For the first time in 40 years, the Wenatchee High
4 School Panthers are the 2023 4A WIAA Volleyball Champions; and
5 WHEREAS, The Wenatchee High School Girls Volleyball Team won
6 their final match against North Creek High School on November 28,
7 2023, by a score of 3-2, earning the second volleyball state
8 championship in Wenatchee High School history; and
9 WHEREAS, The Wenatchee High School Girls Volleyball Team finished
10 the season with 19 wins and one loss; and
11 WHEREAS, First-year Head Coach, Jordan McGregor-Hansen, Assistant
12 Coaches, Juan Sanchez, Emily Ervin, Michaela Sheehan, and Parker
13 Iverson, and all the Panther players, Ava Jo Berry, Breven Luinstra,
14 Jurney Jelsing, Jenissa Hepton, Keira Demirjian, Emme Tucker, Bri
15 Sackman, Jess McIrvin, Sasha Dandridge, Rylee Jones, Claire
16 Demirjian, Nikki Reed, Jalyn Rasmussen, Sienna Knell, and Maren
17 Stubershare in the team's success by combining outstanding coaching
18 with outstanding sportsmanship; and
19 WHEREAS, The inspiring individual and team achievements of the
20 2023 Wenatchee High School Panthers Girls Volleyball Team will always
21 be remembered as a source of great pride by all the citizens of their
22 community and the state of Washington;

1 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Washington State
2 Senate hereby congratulate the Wenatchee High School Girls
3 Volleyball Team for their outstanding state championship; and
4 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Washington State Senate
5 commend the Wenatchee High School Girls Volleyball Team for
6 their excellent performance and look forward to their future
7 accomplishments both on and off the court.
