SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 8412
State of Washington 68th Legislature 2024 Regular Session

1 WHEREAS, It is of paramount importance to establish cutoff dates
2 for the consideration of legislation during the 2024 Regular Session
3 of the Sixty-Eighth Legislature;
4 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, By the Senate of the State of
5 Washington, the House of Representatives concurring, That the
6 following cutoff dates apply to all bills, memorials, and joint
7 resolutions with the exception of budgets, matters necessary to
8 implement budgets, matters that affect state revenue, initiatives to
9 the legislature, and alternatives to initiatives to the legislature:
10 (1) Wednesday, January 31, 2024, the 24th day, will be the final
11 day to read in committee reports in the house of origin, with the
12 exception of reports from the Senate Ways and Means, Senate
13 Transportation, and House of Representatives fiscal committees;
14 (2) Monday, February 5, 2024, the 29th day, will be the final day
15 to read in Senate Ways and Means, Senate Transportation, and House of
16 Representatives fiscal committee reports in the house of origin;
17 (3) Tuesday, February 13, 2024, the 37th day, at 5:00 p.m., will
18 be the final time to consider bills in their house of origin;
19 (4) Wednesday, February 21, 2024, the 45th day, will be the final
20 day to read in committee reports on bills from the opposite house
21 with the exception of reports from the Senate Ways and Means, Senate
22 Transportation, and House of Representatives fiscal committees;

1 (5) Monday, February 26, 2024, the 50th day, will be the final
2 day to read in Senate Ways and Means, Senate Transportation, and
3 House of Representatives fiscal committee reports on bills from the
4 opposite house; and
5 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That after 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 1,
6 2024, the 54th day, neither house may consider any bills, memorials,
7 or joint resolutions except initiatives to the legislature and
8 alternatives to such initiatives, budgets and matters necessary to
9 implement budgets, matters that affect state revenue, messages
10 pertaining to amendments, matters of differences between the two
11 houses, and matters incident to the interim and to the closing of the
12 business of the 2024 Regular Session of the Legislature.
