The resolution honors the life and service of United States Border Patrol Agent Donna Marie Doss, a Washington native who dedicated over 15 years to her role in law enforcement. After graduating from the Border Patrol Academy in 2005, Doss served in various capacities, including on the Drug Enforcement Administration Task Force and as a supervisor of the horse patrol in Texas. She was known for her commitment to building relationships with local law enforcement and providing support to her colleagues. Tragically, Doss lost her life on February 2, 2019, while responding to a call for assistance, when she was struck by a vehicle.
In recognition of her sacrifice, the resolution notes that her name has been honored in several ways, including the dedication of the Donna M. Doss Border Patrol Station in Rock Springs, Texas, signed into law by President Biden in May 2022. Additionally, her name has been added to the National Monument for Fallen Law Enforcement in Washington, D.C. The Washington State Senate expresses its gratitude for Doss's contributions and sacrifices in service to her country and the Border Patrol.
