The bill amends RCW 18.32.195 to broaden the scope of dental faculty licensure in Washington state. It allows the commission to issue licenses to practice dentistry without examination to individuals who have been licensed in other states or countries and have been accepted as faculty members at any accredited institution of higher education in Washington state, rather than being limited to the University of Washington. The new language specifies that these licenses permit practice within university facilities for one year, contingent upon continued employment as a faculty member, and are limited to duties associated with that employment.

Additionally, the bill provides for the issuance of limited licenses to university postdoctoral students or residents in dental education, as well as to residents in approved dental residency programs. The requirements for these licenses include accreditation standards for residency programs and the ability to renew licenses annually as long as the licensee remains in an eligible position. The commission retains the authority to impose conditions on the granting of licenses and to discipline licensees for violations of the established restrictions.
