This bill amends RCW 50.04.310 to clarify the unemployment insurance benefits for officers of employee-owned cooperatives. It specifies that the provisions regarding unemployment status for corporate officers do not apply to officers of employee cooperative corporations, cooperative associations, or limited cooperative associations. Additionally, it states that such officers will not be considered to be performing services solely by acting as an officer for the entity, which affects their eligibility for unemployment benefits.
The bill also includes a new section that addresses potential conflicts with federal requirements related to the allocation of federal funds and unemployment tax credits. If any part of the act conflicts with these federal requirements, that part will be inoperative, but the remainder of the act will still function. The act is set to take effect on January 1, 2024.
