1 AN ACT Relating to reprimands for professional educators; adding
2 a new section to chapter 28A.410 RCW; creating a new section; and
3 providing an expiration date.
4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:
5 NEW SECTION. Sec. 1. A new section is added to chapter 28A.410
6 RCW to read as follows:
7 By December 1, 2025, the Washington professional educator
8 standards board shall adopt rules providing for reviewing and
9 vacating reprimands related to behavior that did not involve a
10 student issued to persons with certificates or permits authorized
11 under this chapter or chapter 28A.405 RCW. The rules must also
12 describe the process for submitting a petition for vacating of a
13 reprimand related to behavior that did not involve a student.
14 NEW SECTION. Sec. 2. (1) By July 1, 2027, and in accordance
15 with RCW 43.01.036, the office of the superintendent of public
16 instruction shall report to the appropriate committees of the
17 legislature with the number of people with a certificate or permit
18 authorized under chapters 28A.410 and 28A.405 RCW who have submitted
19 a petition to have a reprimand vacated under the rules, and the
20 number of people who had a reprimand vacated under the rules.

1 (2) For the purposes of this section, "rules" means rules
2 providing for reviewing and vacating reprimands adopted as required
3 by section 1 of this act.
4 (3) This section expires on August 1, 2027.
