READ FIRST TIME 01/21/22.
1 AN ACT Relating to adding additional superior court judges in
2 Snohomish county; amending RCW 2.08.064; and creating a new section.
3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:
4 Sec. 1. RCW 2.08.064 and 2013 c 142 s 1 are each amended to read
5 as follows:
6 There shall be in the counties of Benton and Franklin jointly,
7 seven judges of the superior court; in the county of Clallam, three
8 judges of the superior court; in the county of Jefferson, one judge
9 of the superior court; in the county of Snohomish, ((fifteen)) 17
10 judges of the superior court; in the counties of Asotin, Columbia and
11 Garfield jointly, one judge of the superior court; in the county of
12 Cowlitz, five judges of the superior court; in the counties of
13 Klickitat and Skamania jointly, one judge of the superior court.
14 NEW SECTION. Sec. 2. (1) The additional judicial positions
15 created in section 1 of this act are effective only if Snohomish
16 county, through its duly constituted legislative authority, documents
17 its approval of the additional positions and its agreement that it
18 will pay out of county funds, without reimbursement from the state,
19 the expenses of the additional judicial positions as provided by
20 state law and the state Constitution.

1 (2) The judicial positions created in section 1 of this act are
2 effective July 1, 2022.
