The resolution honors Kenneth Morton Jr., the former Fire Chief of Williston, for his exceptional service and leadership over 28 years. Morton joined the Williston Fire Department in 1982, a time when the town was transitioning from a rural community to a suburban one. Under his guidance, the department evolved significantly, expanding its staff and services, including the establishment of an emergency medical service and the opening of a modern fire station. By 2020, the department was responding to over 2,000 emergency calls annually, reflecting the growth and demands of the community.

The resolution acknowledges Morton's contributions to the fire department and his respected status among peers in Vermont. It expresses gratitude for his dedication and the legacy of excellence he left behind. The General Assembly resolves to honor Morton and directs the Secretary of State to send a copy of the resolution to him and the Williston Fire Department.
