The Vermont House of Representatives has passed a concurrent resolution congratulating the Mount Mansfield Union High School (MMU) Cougars girls basketball team for their historic achievement in winning the Division I championship in 2026. This victory marked the first end-of-season championship for the Cougars, who faced a challenging path to the title, including a tough matchup against the second-seeded Rutland High School. Despite trailing by 22 points late in the third quarter, the Cougars mounted an impressive comeback, outscoring Rutland 30-6 in the final quarter to secure a 62-60 victory.

The resolution highlights the remarkable performance of the team, which included standout players such as Emma Brownell, Morgan Campbell, and Alyce Dorman, among others. It also acknowledges the leadership of Head Coach Mark Pfaff and his assistant coaches, who motivated the team to overcome significant odds. The General Assembly has directed that a copy of this resolution be sent to MMU to commemorate their achievement.
