The House of Representatives of Vermont has passed a concurrent resolution congratulating the 2026 Bellows Free Academy-St. Albans Comets for their outstanding achievement in winning the Division I girls championship ice hockey title. The Comets had an impressive season, finishing undefeated and securing the top playoff seed. Their determination was evident as they sought to claim the championship title after reaching the finals in the previous two years. The decisive victory against the third-seeded Essex team took place at the University of Vermont's Gutterson Fieldhouse, where the Comets scored first and maintained their lead throughout the game, ultimately winning 3-1 and completing an 18-game undefeated streak.
The resolution highlights the contributions of the talented players on the team, including Lily Desautels, Haylie Lanfear, and many others, as well as the guidance of Head Coach Luke Cioffi and his assistant coaches. The General Assembly expresses its pride in the team's accomplishments and directs the Secretary of State to send a copy of the resolution to Bellows Free Academy-St. Albans as a formal recognition of their success.
