The House of Representatives of Vermont has passed a concurrent resolution congratulating junior Grant Montgomery for his remarkable achievements in alpine skiing, despite the absence of a varsity team at his school, Bellows Free Academy-St. Albans. Montgomery trained independently with Rice Memorial High School and the Smugglers Notch Ski and Snowboard Club, which laid the groundwork for his successful 2025-2026 racing season. He excelled in nearly every race, culminating in a standout performance at the State championships held at Burke Mountain Resort, where he secured first place in both the giant slalom and slalom events, achieving a double-header victory.
In recognition of his outstanding results, Montgomery earned a spot on Vermont's Eastern High School Championship alpine team, contributing to their fourth-place finish at a subsequent event in New Hampshire. His accomplishments have also been acknowledged by the St. Albans Messenger, which named him Athlete of the Week. The resolution not only celebrates Montgomery's dual State championship victories but also directs the Secretary of State to send a copy of the resolution to him as a formal acknowledgment of his achievements.
