The House concurrent resolution R-314 congratulates junior Grant Montgomery for his remarkable achievements in alpine skiing, specifically his dual State championship victories during the 2025-2026 season. Despite the absence of a varsity team at Bellows Free Academy-St. Albans, Montgomery trained independently with Rice Memorial High School and received guidance from Coach Bob Cochran, which significantly contributed to his success. Throughout the season, he consistently excelled in races, culminating in impressive performances at the northern district event and the State championship at Burke Mountain Resort.

At the State championship, Montgomery showcased his skills by finishing fourth in the giant slalom on the first day, followed by a strong second run that secured him first place overall. On the second day, he dominated the slalom event, winning by a comfortable margin. His outstanding performance not only earned him individual titles but also a spot on Vermont's Eastern High School Championship alpine team. In recognition of his achievements, he was named Athlete of the Week by the St. Albans Messenger. The resolution expresses the General Assembly's congratulations to Montgomery for his exceptional accomplishments in the sport.
