The resolution commemorates the life and contributions of Kenneth A. Harvey, a former Representative and Chair of the Hyde Park Selectboard, who passed away on February 26, 2026, at the age of 74. A lifelong resident of Hyde Park, Ken graduated from Lamoille Union High School and Champlain College, and began his successful business career at the age of 20 by establishing Kens Mobil in Morrisville. Over the years, he expanded his business ventures to include gas stations, mobile home parks, an oil company, and more. His commitment to public service began in 1981 when he joined the Hyde Park selectboard, eventually becoming its chair, and he also served as the town's road commissioner.

In addition to his local government roles, Ken Harvey was elected to the Vermont House of Representatives, where he served five consecutive terms and was appointed chair of the House Committee on Transportation. He was actively involved in community initiatives, including the founding of the Hyde Park Recreation Committee and participation in the Lamoille County Sheriff's Advisory Board. The resolution expresses heartfelt condolences to his family, particularly to his partner, Debbie Slayton, and directs the Secretary of State to send a copy of the resolution to them and the Hyde Park Town Clerk.
