The House of Representatives of Vermont has passed a concurrent resolution welcoming the officers and crew of the USS VERMONT (SSN 792) during their namesake visit to the State House on March 17, 2026. The resolution highlights the submarine's significant contributions to the trilateral security partnership between Australia, the UK, and the U.S. (AUKUS), as well as its historic achievements, including being the first submarine to undergo maintenance outside U.S. territory and receiving the Navy Unit Commendation for its deployment that concluded in 2025.

In addition to the visit, the resolution designates April 18, 2026, as USS VERMONT (SSN 792) Day in Vermont, coinciding with the anniversary of the submarine's launch. The State House will also host an information display about the USS VERMONT on April 17, 2026, in anticipation of the celebration. The resolution concludes by directing the Secretary of State to present a copy to Commander Matthew Lewis, the commanding officer of the USS VERMONT, and the USS VERMONT Support Group, recognizing the vessel's honor to the state and its legacy of naval excellence.
