The House concurrent resolution honors Kirwin Flanders, the Chair of the East Haven Selectboard, for his remarkable 51-year tenure in municipal public service. Flanders began his leadership journey in 1974 when he was appointed to fill a vacancy on the Selectboard and was subsequently elected by the community every three years since 1975. His dedication and effective governance have made him a respected figure in East Haven and across Vermont, where he has also contributed as a representative to the Northeast Kingdom Waste Management District and managed the Aqua Haven community water system.
To commemorate Flanders' significant contributions and to celebrate the conclusion of his long-standing service, a potluck luncheon is being held in his honor on March 15, 2026, at the East Haven Community Building. The resolution expresses gratitude for his extraordinary commitment to the community and directs the Secretary of State to send a copy of the resolution to Flanders as a formal acknowledgment of his achievements.
