The House Concurrent Resolution honors Kirwin Flanders, the Chair of the East Haven Selectboard, for his remarkable 51-year career in municipal public service. Flanders began his leadership journey in 1974 when he was appointed to fill a vacancy on the Selectboard and was subsequently elected by the community every three years since 1975. His dedication and competence have led to an unprecedented tenure as chair, making him one of the longest-serving municipal leaders in Vermont's history. In addition to his role on the Selectboard, Flanders has contributed to the community as a representative to the Northeast Kingdom Waste Management District and as the manager of the Aqua Haven community water system.

As Flanders' extraordinary service comes to a close, the resolution acknowledges his significant contributions to East Haven and the impact he has had on the community over the decades. To commemorate this milestone, a potluck luncheon is being held in his honor on March 15, 2026, at the East Haven Community Building. The resolution concludes by directing the Secretary of State to send a copy of the resolution to Flanders as a formal recognition of his achievements and dedication to public service.
