The House Concurrent Resolution honors Starr LaTronica, the Director of Brooks Memorial Library in Brattleboro, Vermont, for her significant contributions to the library and the community. A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, LaTronica has a rich background in library services, including her previous role as a children's librarian and her position as youth services/outreach manager at the Four County Library System in New York. Since becoming the director of Brooks Memorial Library a decade ago, she has actively engaged with the community, expanded the library's collection, championed against censorship, and curated diverse programs for public enrichment.
Under LaTronica's leadership, the library has adapted to the evolving role of public libraries in the digital age, ensuring access to technology and resources for all patrons. She has also addressed local challenges such as homelessness and addiction with compassion and creativity. As her tenure is set to conclude in April 2026, the resolution recognizes her achievements, including securing federal grants for capital improvements and her national involvement in children's librarianship. The General Assembly expresses its gratitude and directs the Secretary of State to send a copy of the resolution to LaTronica and the library.
