The House Concurrent Resolution congratulates Doris G. Dexter on her 100th birthday, recognizing her remarkable life and achievements. Born on February 3, 1926, in Detroit, Michigan, Doris demonstrated her dedication and resilience during World War II by working nights as a welder at a Cadillac plant. She graduated from Michigan State University and later earned a master's degree at the University of Wisconsin, also studying French at the Sorbonne in Paris. Throughout her life, she has been a devoted mother to six children, a grandmother to eight, and a great-grandmother to three, while also engaging in various community activities and advocating for civil rights.

Doris's passions extend beyond academia; she is a talented classical pianist and has participated in numerous choral organizations. After moving to Shaftsbury in 2004, she continued her musical pursuits with the Bennington County Chorale Society. Known for her active lifestyle, she regularly walked several miles a day until recent years. The resolution not only celebrates her centennial milestone but also acknowledges her contributions to her communities and her commitment to lifelong learning and engagement. The General Assembly directs the Secretary of State to send a copy of this resolution to Doris Dexter.
