The House of Representatives of Vermont has passed a concurrent resolution congratulating the Thetford Academy Panthers boys indoor track and field team for winning their second consecutive Division II championship. Despite competing against larger Division II schools, the Panthers have embraced the challenge and showcased their athletic prowess by clinching the title with impressive performances in various events, including the 55-meter dash, 300-meter run, high jump, long jump, and weight throw. Their victory was marked by a narrow win over rival U-32, with a final score of 115-109.
The resolution acknowledges the hard work and dedication of the team members, including athletes Zac Adams, Wendell Durham, and others, as well as the leadership of Head Coach Charlie Buttrey and assistant coaches. It also highlights concerns regarding the future of indoor track and field in Vermont, particularly due to limited venues for state championship meets, which may affect the season's duration. The General Assembly has directed that a copy of this resolution be sent to Thetford Academy to commemorate their achievement.
