The House of Representatives of Vermont has passed a concurrent resolution in memory of Jon Gailmor, a beloved folk singer and former Town Moderator of Elmore. Known for his joyful melodies that celebrated Vermont's values and beauty, Gailmor was often likened to the iconic Pete Seeger. He pursued a career in education after studying at Pennsylvania State University and Temple University, ultimately moving to Vermont in 1977. There, he shifted his focus from commercial music to engaging with children through school residencies and his radio show, "Just Kidding," which aired from 1979 to the early 2000s. He also composed a song honoring Vermont's citizen governance, reflecting his deep appreciation for community involvement.

Gailmor served as Elmore's town moderator for over 15 years, where he facilitated municipal meetings with enthusiasm. Following the passing of his wife, he joined the Montpelier Gospel Choir, a group she had once been part of. In 2024, after being diagnosed with leukemia, he moved to New Orleans to live with his son, where he passed away at the age of 77 on November 30, 2025. The resolution expresses condolences to his family and the residents of Elmore, and it directs the Secretary of State to send copies of the resolution to Gailmor's family and the Elmore Town Clerk.
