The bill S.184, introduced by Senator Lyons, aims to establish the Community Justice Center Working Group. This group is tasked with identifying available support services for pretrial diversion and transitional needs, as well as the mechanisms to disseminate this information to courts and other stakeholders. Additionally, the Working Group will assess gaps in services within each community justice center area, particularly focusing on behavioral health services.
The Working Group will consist of various members, including representatives from community restorative justice centers, the Chief Superior Court Judge, and commissioners from the Departments of Mental Health, Health, and Corrections, along with an appointee from the Attorney General. The group is required to present its findings and recommendations to the General Assembly by December 1, 2026. The act will take effect upon passage.
