The House concurrent resolution No. R-184 congratulates Ronald Loomis for receiving the 2025 Shaftsbury Ordinary Hero Award. Offered by Representative Durfee and Senators Bongartz and Plunkett, the resolution highlights Loomis's extensive contributions to the Shaftsbury community over the past four decades. A graduate of Mt. Anthony Union High School and Southern Vermont College, Loomis has owned Loomis Auto Exchange for 38 years, during which he has donated vehicles for training purposes to local fire and police departments. He has also actively supported Shaftsbury Elementary School through fundraising efforts and has mentored local youth, including hosting children of military families and serving as a foster parent.
In addition to his volunteer work, Loomis and his wife, Lisa, have created a beloved community space at the Loomis Sugar House, hosting various organizational events. They have played a significant role in the annual Haunted House fundraiser for the Shaftsbury Fire Department and have assisted neighbors in need through acts of kindness, such as snow plowing and helping the elderly. The resolution recognizes Loomis's dedication to his community and his numerous good deeds, affirming that he is a deserving recipient of the Shaftsbury Ordinary Hero Award. The General Assembly expresses its congratulations and directs the Secretary of State to send a copy of the resolution to Loomis.
