The House concurrent resolution No. R-173 honors Steven D. Faccio of Strafford for his exemplary leadership and dedication as a conservation biologist. Faccio has committed his life to the protection of the environment, earning both bachelor's and master's degrees in biology before moving to Vermont. He worked for 15 years at the Vermont Institute of Natural Science, focusing on various ornithological studies and contributing significantly to scientific literature. Additionally, he has been an active member of the Vermont Endangered Species Committee and played a pivotal role in founding the Strafford Conservation Commission.
In 2007, Faccio co-founded the Vermont Center for Ecostudies, where he served as the senior conservation biologist and created the Vermont Vernal Pool Atlas. As he concludes his role at the Center, the resolution acknowledges his impactful career and contributions to conservation efforts in Vermont. The General Assembly expresses its gratitude and honors Faccio's inspiring leadership, directing the Secretary of State to send a copy of the resolution to him and the Vermont Center for Ecostudies.
