The resolution honors Steven D. Faccio of Strafford for his significant contributions and inspiring leadership in the field of conservation biology. Faccio has dedicated his life to protecting the natural environment, earning both bachelor's and master's degrees in biology before moving to Vermont. He worked for 15 years at the Vermont Institute of Natural Science, focusing on various ornithological studies and publishing extensively in scientific literature. Additionally, he has been an active member of the Vermont Endangered Species Committee and played a key role in founding the Strafford Conservation Commission.
In 2007, Faccio co-founded the Vermont Center for Ecostudies, where he served as the senior conservation biologist and created the Vermont Vernal Pool Atlas. As he concludes his role at the center, the resolution acknowledges his impactful career and ongoing commitment to conservation efforts. The General Assembly expresses its gratitude and honors Faccio's legacy by directing the Secretary of State to send a copy of the resolution to him and the Vermont Center for Ecostudies.
