The House concurrent resolution No. R-161 celebrates the 40th anniversary of Robins Nest Children's Center, located in Burlington's Old North End. Established in 1985 in response to the closure of a local early childhood program, a group of parents came together to create Robins Nest, aiming to provide a nurturing and supportive environment for young children. The center has since become a vital resource for families, offering quality early education and a community where children can learn and grow together in a play-based setting.
As of 2025, Robins Nest serves 31 children from 23 families, supported by a dedicated team of nine teachers. The center's diverse population includes a significant percentage of BIPOC families, and many children benefit from the State's Child Care Financial Assistance Program. The resolution acknowledges the center's ongoing commitment to early childhood care and education, reflecting the vision set forth by its founders 40 years ago. The General Assembly expresses its appreciation for Robins Nest's contributions to the community and directs the Secretary of State to send a copy of the resolution to the center.
