The House concurrent resolution R-142 commends Team Trumie and Truman Compton for their significant contributions to advocacy, community engagement, and the promotion of awareness and acceptance of autism. Established shortly after Truman's autism diagnosis in 2017, Team Trumie has grown to over 50 volunteers who have actively raised funds for the Special Needs Support Center, participated in community events, and donated resources such as books and sensory kits to local first responders. Their efforts have fostered a supportive environment for individuals with autism and have sparked global conversations through their slogan, "let's learn more about autism, together."
In addition to their fundraising and awareness initiatives, Team Trumie has engaged in various community projects, including the installation of communication boards in schools and the establishment of a special education advisory committee in Windsor County. Truman has also taken an active role in sharing his experiences with autism in classroom presentations, furthering the mission of inclusivity and understanding. The resolution recognizes the profound impact of Team Trumie's work and directs the Secretary of State to send a copy of the resolution to the Compton family and Team Trumie as a token of appreciation for their advocacy efforts.
