The House of Representatives of Vermont has passed a concurrent resolution honoring Italian artist Michelangelo Pistoletto for his significant contributions to the art world and his nomination for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize. Born in 1933 in Biella, Italy, Pistoletto began his artistic journey in the 1950s and became known for his innovative use of mirrors in painting, which reflects the realities of their surroundings. His work is closely associated with the Arte Povera movement, and he has made a lasting impact through his establishment of the Fondazione Pistoletto Cittadellarte, a community dedicated to fostering artistic collaboration and social responsibility.

The resolution highlights Pistoletto's commitment to using art as a means of promoting peace and human connection, as evidenced by his 1994 Progetto Arte Manifesto, which called for artists to engage with all aspects of human activity. The Cittadellarte has since evolved into a vital center for artistic exploration and innovation. In recognition of his lifelong dedication to peaceful collaboration through art, the Vermont General Assembly expresses its admiration for Pistoletto's achievements and directs the Secretary of State to send a copy of the resolution to him.
