The House concurrent resolution No. R-99 celebrates the 30th anniversary of the Vermont Arts Exchange (VAE), a nonprofit organization founded in 1993 by Matthew Perry and Patricia Pedreira. Initially located in North Bennington, VAE has developed a diverse range of studio-based programs in various artistic media, including papermaking, printmaking, ceramics, and music. The organization has made significant contributions to the community, such as clearing Paran Creek and creating affordable housing units for low and moderate-income families, as well as establishing the Basement Music Series. VAE's mission extends beyond Bennington County, reaching national and international audiences.
The resolution highlights the upcoming recognition of VAE's artistic achievements and community impact through a month-long exhibit titled "From the Studio to the Streets: Vermont Arts Exchange, 30 Years of Community Engagement through the Arts," set to take place at the Bennington Museum on April 5, 2025. The General Assembly expresses its celebration of VAE's collaborative artistic endeavors and directs the Secretary of State to send a copy of the resolution to both VAE and the Bennington Museum.
