The House concurrent resolution No. R-79 honors Linda C. Johnson for her significant contributions to the prevention of child abuse during her 38-year tenure as the Executive Director of Prevent Child Abuse Vermont (PCAVT). Under her leadership, PCAVT developed innovative strategies to combat child abuse and foster healthy relationships within families and communities. Johnson's initiatives have received national recognition, particularly for her work in preventing child sexual abuse, and she has effectively structured the organization into three departments to address various aspects of child welfare.

Additionally, Johnson's advocacy efforts led to state funding for numerous parent support groups, positively impacting over 1,900 children and extending programs to Vermont's men's prisons. Her leadership contributed to a remarkable 66 percent reduction in child abuse victims and a decrease in Shaken Baby Syndrome cases. As she concluded her tenure in December 2024, she was honored with the Lifetime Champion for Children Award, recognizing her dedication and impact in the field. The resolution calls for the General Assembly to formally acknowledge her contributions and directs the Secretary of State to send a copy of the resolution to Johnson and PCAVT.
