The Senate concurrent resolution congratulates Liliane Gordon from Hinesburg for receiving the prestigious Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest honor for Girl Scouts in grades 9-12. Currently a freshman at the University of Vermont's Grossman School of Business, Liliane has demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to community service. Notably, she captained the Champlain Valley Union High School girls track and field teams and initiated a project called "Get Active!" to address the rising issues of obesity, screen time, and mental health among young Vermonters exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. This project involved coaching young athletes, providing resources for parents, and creating a video showcasing the benefits of sports participation.
In addition to her Gold Award project, Liliane has a strong track record of involvement in Girl Scouts, including being the top cookie seller for six years and serving as a Girl Scout Ambassador. Her dedication to community service is further evidenced by her participation in various initiatives such as Green Up Day and student council. In recognition of her achievements, she received an academic athletic award at her high school graduation in 2024. The resolution expresses the General Assembly's congratulations to Liliane and directs the Secretary of State to send copies of the resolution to her and the Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains.
