The Vermont House of Representatives has passed a concurrent resolution congratulating Ilona Delsing Rosa Maher for her achievement in winning a bronze medal with the U.S. women's rugby sevens team at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The resolution highlights Maher's impressive athletic journey, beginning with her participation in various sports at Burlington High School and her subsequent success in rugby at Quinnipiac University, where she helped her team secure three National Intercollegiate Rugby Association championships and earned All-American honors.

In addition to her collegiate accomplishments, Maher made her debut with the USA Rugby World Cup Sevens team in 2018 and represented the U.S. at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. Her recent Olympic success in Paris, where the team secured its first-ever Olympic medal by defeating Australia, has further elevated her status as a prominent figure in women's sports. The resolution not only celebrates her athletic achievements but also acknowledges her efforts to promote women's sports and body positivity. The General Assembly has directed that a copy of the resolution be sent to Maher as a token of recognition for her accomplishments.
