The House concurrent resolution congratulates Vermonter Noah Dines for setting a new world record in vertical skiing, achieving an impressive total of 3,590,097 feet skied in one year. This accomplishment required extraordinary stamina and dedication, as Dines not only surpassed the previous record of 2,500,000 feet but also exceeded his own goal of 3,000,000 feet. His journey involved daily ascents of nearly 10,000 feet on his home mountain in Stowe, as well as extensive travel to various locations in the U.S. and abroad to ensure year-round skiing conditions.
The resolution highlights the remarkable effort and commitment Dines demonstrated throughout his record-setting year, which included skiing a total of 6,082 miles and spending 2,268.34 hours on the slopes. Averaging nearly 10,000 vertical feet per day, Dines's achievement is likened to the equivalent of 120 ascents of Mount Everest. The General Assembly expresses its admiration for his accomplishment and directs the Secretary of State to send a copy of the resolution to Dines in recognition of his extraordinary feat.
